I wrote a little while ago about Sir David Bells commentsabout the need to not get drawnPoratrait of Sir David Bell new Vice Chancellor to Thne Universi into focusing on “employability” issues and expressed my dismay at such comments. I understand there has been a bit of a backlash from Careers Advisers and Academic Staff in the HE sector to his remarks.

Out of curiosity I went and had a look at the University of Reading website and came across a strategy consultation document issued by the said Sir David Bell and I have published an extract below.

Now I don’t know whether it is me, but I am damned if I can find any reference to “employability strategy” “preparation and equipping of student for the transition to work” or “developing appropriate work related skills” although there is a very bland “one liner referring to “improving employment prospects of students”.
